Peonies Friday

What a beautiful display my beloved heirloom peonies are putting on. Just a small root is what I brought with me out to the country when we arrived six years ago. What a blessing to that bush explode with blooms this spring. I will admit I do use a horse manure in the top soil each fall and they do get fertilized with 20-20-20 at least once a week in the early spring. I am excited to spend the afternoon out in the garden laying a new brick border engulfed by their sweet fragrance. I will keep you posted on my brick job upon completion.

My Boo this Friday morning was alert and ready to help me in the garden. One of his favorite places to 'roll' around is in the Catmit / Dianthus
corner of the back garden. I enjoy the color display that catnip combo is showing off this spring. It seems to be doing well this early in the season. Another one of Boo's favorite spots is the bird bath near the hosta shade garden. He seems to think it is his water bowl.

Happy Friday to you, too, Bren;-) Your peony is gorgeous...it hung on for you and is now thanking you for taking such good care of it's root for 6 years! You deserve a great show!

Bren, what a gorgeous peony. I love the vibrant pink color. Same with the bright pink dianthus. Just lovely.

I want to try to grown peonies here. I don't know anyone here that grows them (that may be a sign), I am thinking it is much too hot here for them. Even though it says they will grow in zone 8. I guess I will just give it a try. TGIF!

I love Peonies! I think they are my favorite flower. I just wish they lasted longer. However, I have found an illusion of peonies! Bath & Body has a wall flower scent that is peony. Heaven!! (Especially after the real ones have faded away!) Your pictures are magnificent. You make my day!

Your peony is just awesome. And to think it was just a little twig of a plant. It looks like sorbet. I wish we could grow peony's here.

Your peony is lovely....do you know the name? I love Catmint and have it growing in the back of my flower beds around the house. It makes a nice backdrop early on before the other flowers come in, and then I trim it for a second bloom later in the summer.

Bren, I sure would love to have peonies blooming in the garden again and a garden kitty would be wonderful, too. Coal has to stay indoors...we live on a busy road. Have a deliciously sweet weekend in your garden with Boo. Your peonies are beautiful! gail

I am trying to find the name of those peonies - but no luck. We had them in our yard in town ( 20 years ago) and I brought them out to the country with me.

THANK YOU ALL for the wonderful comments on my flowers and photos. IT really makes sharing fun!

Happy Weekend!

Well worth the wait, dear Bren. A stunning tribute to your green thumb. I left for the lake today, hoping not to miss my next peony blooming, knowing often the moment is fleeting! Happy gardening/capturing weekend.

Nice to meet you. I love peonies, they're one of my favorite plants. I brought the three pass alongs from my husband's coworker with us from our old garden when we moved. My cats pretend they'd like to go outside, but when Sweetie gets into the garage she's so scared. Speedy hasn't made it out yet.

Beautiful pics of your peony! I had one on the side of my house in Ohio, and it always put on such a beautiful show in the springtime.

So I thought when I moved to KS that I'd be in a better zone for gardening? Nooooo, still zone 5! And we live on the OK border. How can that be?!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!!!

I've never tried my hand at Peonies. I've always heard they don't perform well in our zone. So, I reckon I'll just have to enjoy yours.

Can't remember if I've commented on this Peony post or not. Oh, well, I guess two comments won't hurt. It goes w/o saying that your Peonies are gorgeous, but so is the Catmint/Dianthus combination. But Boo steals the show. We used to have a cat named Boo-Boo Kitty. I'm interested in that birdbath. Is it sitting on the ground or does it just look that way to me in the photo? I like it.

My peonies will be another two weeks at least. Your mosiac shot is beautiful... makes me really ready for mine to bloom!
