Road Trip - Whiteford Road Greenhouse

After the wonderful response my blogger and local garden friends gave me from my last review of my visit to Bordines Nursery I decided to have my camera on hand while doing my spring garden shopping this year. It has been a wonderful experience sharing information and photos from Midwest Growers with all of you on Blogger. For those of you who know me as a freelance artist you know that having a camera or two on hand is not uncommon for me. I enjoy hearing feedback from everyone so please continue to share your shopping experience with me this season.

Last Friday I had a sporting event to attend in the Toledo area so I decided to leave early and visit the Whiteford Road Greenhouse. Before moving out to the country six years ago I use to do my window box annual shopping at this location. If you are from the Toledo area you will quickly think PINK WAVE Petunia's on Whiteford Road. The Whiteford Road Greenhouse is known for their fabulous structures built to display these fabulous waves. I have it on my list to return with camera this summer when the Waves are in full bloom.

Their knowledgeable staff were quick to greet me and other shoppers as they entered the greenhouse this Friday afternoon. I give them an A+ for that service coming from a retail background myself I know how important Customer Service is to maintain a successful business.

Spring is in full bloom in this nursery with a fabulous selection of potted arrangements for spring including tulips, daffodils, pansies and more. If you can't find the arrangement in the pot you want they will quickly pot it for you. The fact that they were featuring all the latest spring blooms for my area like the Hellebore perennial impressed me. A walk down their front greenhouse isles was like opening the pages of my latest COUNTRY GARDEN Magazine.

Moss Sculptures
I am a big fan of these moss sculptures. Two of our favorite animals were featured in the greenhouse. These sculptures will be fabulous once the plug flowers that are planted in them take growth later in the season.

A few Succulents from Proven Winner - the Kiwi
My favorite this spring is the Hard to Resist Hellebore's!

The collage of Hellebore's was taken in Whiteford Road Greenhouse. I was amazed at their large selection of the Hellebore. This is a new found love of mine this year. I can't wait to see what the Lenten Rose ( Red Lady) will bring to my garden in years to come. This perennial loves to steal the show before the ground has warmed and the snow has barely melted. I want to make a special note about this greenhouses' web page : Be sure to visit their space on the web to see featured items for this week and featured COUPONS!

The Helleborus collection is gorgeous. Unfortunately, they are too tender for this climate. I'd love to visit the Whiteford Road Greenhouse ~ it looks like a fabulous place. Great idea taking your camera with you. Have a good week!

That looks like a wonderful place to shop. They have some great looking containers and those moss animals are cute.

I do love the hellebore too - but I have not had the opportunity to purchase one yet. The collection at this greenhouse is superb. I can see why you love it. I have gravitated to the petunias this year for some reason. Your window boxes are looking real nice too. Thanks for visiting my blog. I love to read the comments. Happy Gardening...

Hi Bren, I stopped at one of our large garden retailers this weekend too. A lot of primrose and pansies. Acres of fountains and lawn furniture. I'm considering hellebore this year too.

Sharon... get back in the garden!!! You have lots of friends on Blogger who will help you along the way.

Shellmo - the boxes were on our garage at our old house. That style does not match our Cottage home out in the country. We are building a cute little Rabbit house ( we breed Netherland Dwarfs) and I am adding window boxes onto this house! Can't wait to share photos.

DirtPrincess - my photos are edited with Picasa ( free from Google) and the music comes from http://www.playlist.com/. CHECK THEM OUT!!!!! Feel free to email me if you have any questions about adding it to your page.

BIG THANK YOU FOR everyone who stops by my Garden on Blogger. You are all so very wonderful and I look forward to sharing more of the garden with you each week.
