Rain Rain .... Recyle by Bonnie

I do realize most of the country is singing ' Rain, Rain, Go away' but in my garden we are dancing to the thoughts of ' April showers bring May flowers!' This morning we only got 1/2 inch of peaceful drizzle rain.

MACRO mode of the new mini pansies I put around my Dogwood tree that survived a major move two summers ago. I put a flat of pansies from Home Depot Garden center around my tree which has English ivy and my Juncus growing underneath.

Pansy Collage

One of my 'garden runs' to the local nursery that is open in my neck of the woods ; which happens to be Walmart Garden Center, I picked up a rosemary herb plant. I have some seeds going in my greenhouse but they are only in week 3 of growth. I wanted to make a GARDEN NOTE about Bonnie Plant Company.
LOVE the herb selection at the local retail shop and they are Green - Smart - EASY!
What a great way to merchandise a plant. All I did was peal off the label and place the peat pot it came in right in the ceramic container.

More Macro Fun on Friday!
I used some of the rosemary plant in the CatFish I grilled in Thursday night. YUMMO!!!! HOW COST efficient is that? A whole plant the retailed at $2.40 and will ' keep on giving'. As apposed to the herb clipping I usually by at the grocery story that only last maybe two or three meal plans for $1.30. Think about all the money you can safe and how much better you food can taste by growing your own herbs.

A little scrapbooking message to say.......

I enjoy growing herbs so much. I too grow rosemary along with some others. You are right, it's so nice to go outside and clip what you need instead of buying some in produce and then throwing it out.

I too just picked up a Rosemary Plant today, though mine came form The Anderson. And you are very right about eating in being cheaper, not to mention better for you. I too am glad that I found your blog, I LOVE the pics!

Hello Bren,

I also enjoy growing herbs, It's great to cook with. As for your Macro photography what type of camera do you use? I have a cannon
powershot A630 that has a built in macro setting, is that considered macro photography? I think you have seen some of my photos on my blog.
Someone commented to me that I do close up shots not macro, I just would like to know what your thoughts are.

It's a good thing you were able to buy a rosemary plant, because those grown from seeds will probably not be ready to cut from for awhile. I love growing herbs, to, and rosemary is one of my favorites.

Thanks for your comment on my yard walk.

I love your pansy collage, by the way.

Nice work Bren. Your posts are always so interesting and informative.
I think growing herbs is great but I try not to cook whenever I can get out of it so I don't grow any. Not much need when Newman and I make such a great pair! LOL Actually, I have grown some but because they were such a pretty plant and I had intentions of snipping for cooking but if I'm not cooking . . .
We have a Bonnie wholesale place not far from here. They have a bunch of huge greenhouses and I saw the name on their trucks and googled them because I hadn't heard of them at the time. Now I know.

I'm singing rain rain go away right now. My weatherman said it has been one of the sunniest years to date, but last week we had half the days be rainy and foggy. This coming week it will be five out of seven. I need some nice gardening weather now that it is warm.

You too Bren! And I am liking the rain. I hope it keeps coming this summer.

Yes, I think Ohio has missed a lot of the rain that has plagued the rest of the country. But the last week or two we've had some good soakers, so I'm happy. I don't think gardeners feel the same way about rain as the rest of the world. Yes, a rainy day can be gloomy, but we just focus on how much it's helping our plants!

I am looking forward to my own mini-herb garden this year. I have mostly mint (different varieties). But I'm hoping to get some oregano, basil, and perhaps something else (heck, I cannot even remember what's in the planter I have!!). Can't wait to share it with you once it gets going!!

Your pansies are so pretty. I also went to Walmart (Though I hate them) this week. I walked away with too much from the garden center :) Should have stayed home.
Have a good weekend Brenda.

I love the Violas. The colours you can get are like little works of art.My own fav ones are the Viola Cornuta, which look a lot like the wild Violas that grow here.
I love the colour and energy in your collages!

We love growing our own herbs too. There's so much enjoyment and satisfaction in the cost savings, isn't there?

And your little pansies are so precious. I always love their pretty little faces.

Goodmorning Bren! I am just starting a herb garden...or as I call it, my kitchen garden. I don't have much...but I am adding to it. So far all of my herbs have been given to me by other gardeners. Great way to get plants!! As usual....love your photos. Have a good one!

Bren,
I love those Bonnie pots, too.

I swear you can't compare the fragrance and flavor of herbs fresh from the garden to those you buy at the grocery store!

Have a good week!

Bren, you've been one busy girl. I think the little pansies and violas are among the cheeriest of flowers. Yours are very sweet. Yes, any green container is a great thing, isn't it? I used Cow Pots for the first time this year, and I like them too.~~Dee

I am so lame about using my herbs and mints from the garden. Need to do better.

I think you are so right about growing herbs. It is very cost effective and better tasting. I want to do a little herb garden in a large pot this summer. I haven't even tried to keep things like rosemary overwinter but I may see what happens.

Beautiful pictures and a great blog. Thanks for coming by my blog for a visit. Please come back again soon.
I am going to have a "card box" giveaway every month. This drawing will be the last day of April.
Every comment you leave throughout the month will enter your name in the drawing. This NEW blogger was so touched by all the comments I got on the card box, that I decided to make this a monthly GIFT...
Also, if you mention my blog telling, about the monthly giveaway, you will have your name entered 10 extra times...How is that for an incentive? I was so blown away by all the responses that I wanted to email each person personally, but TIME... just has not permitted..but I did love reading all of them..
I am continuing to introduce my family members and then there will be some fun blogs coming up from Disney World in May. I am so thankful for all my new friends.
