Garden - New Lake Addition

I hope the title to this blog entry is not too misleading. We didn't purposely add a lake to our property but we have had such a melt down of the snow from the spring like weather that the river is up like it normally does in the spring . When this happens, a good portion of our property floods or what I like to call ' we now own a lake'.

This photos was taken as the river was rising. The water you see out front is actually a grassy area. It does make for some wonderful photos of the garden.

What a great week it has been to be able to look out our home window and enjoy the look and feel of living on lake front property. The other day I actually made it out close enough to get a great shot of the ducks who are easily spooked. They were out enjoying the spring like day in our seasonable lake.

This photo by the bird house was the day that it was 60* degrees. We broke local records with those temperature so it is no wonder the 8 inches of snow we had melted so quickly.
It is only February and there is a forecast that includes 3" - 5" of snow for the weekend. Gotta love winter in the Midwest.

Bren, I'm glad that you are able to enjoy your temporary "lake". It does look nice.

I'm hoping we are done with the rain and snow, at least until things dry out some.

We had those 60 degree temps here too. It was lovely but the ground was so wet you couldn't venture off the sidewalk.

Your photos are beautiful. Love the kitty.

We are scheduled to get 3-5 inches of snow tonight but warmer temps next week so it won't last long.

We had our own lake one day this week also..then it got cold and snowed again. Old Man winter is so unpredictable. Great photos! :)

Beautiful photos!
"They" are calling for 4-8" of snow for us at long last. Our local fuzzy Siberian meteorologist (Amber, who has never been wrong) says she can smell it, but it's not going to amount to much - if we even get any snow. My money's on her.
Have a great weekend!

Wow the weather really does change there. Does the new lake freeze when the snow comes back? Lots of very nice pictures.

That is awesome! Does the water subside fairly quickly?

Hi Bren

Sorry I am so late visiting. I was without power for ten days from the ice storm and we are now attempting to clean up the enormous mess it left. When you visited I already was out of power and just saw your comment today. I do appreciate your visit and comment. Thank you.

I love your pictures of the seasonal lake, etc. Your kitty is beautiful. I have one that looks a lot like yours although the fur is darker, sort of a gray with the darker face and blue eyes. She is a Tonkenese.

Love your chili recipe, and will try that. You have a nice blog and I will visit again.

Happy Valentine's Day! Have a great weekend.

When I read this first, I somehow skipped the first part, and started with you talking about enjoying living on a "lake front" property. LOL

Well, the wildlife looks fooled, too!

Great pics!
